.History and Original Aims
The Journal of Actuarial
Practice (ISSN 1064-6647) was founded in 1992 by Professor Colin M. Ramsay as an
international peer-reviewed journal for the purpose of improving
communications between the practicing and the academic actuarial
communities. The first volume (Vol. 1, No. 1) was published in 1993 and the last
volume (Vol. 13) in 2006. At the time of its founding, the aim of this
international journal was to publish articles pertaining to the
"art" and/or "science" involved in
contemporary actuarial practice. The Journal welcomed articles
providing new (or improving upon existing) ideas, strategies, or
techniques involved in actuarial "art" and/or "science".
The major criterion was that articles should ultimately be useful
to practicing actuaries. The Journal has published articles in
both the life and non-life areas. The Journal no longer accepts papers for publication.
